Because our residents
need twenty-four-hour, seven-days-a-week care a complement of
some 245 staff ably assisted by 120 plus volunteers are required.
This type of work calls for deeply committed, loving, caring people
- those who gain personal satisfaction from helping others.
Broadly speaking,
70% of the employed workforce has the responsibility for caring
for our residents - attending to all of their personal needs throughout
each say and night.
The balance of
our staff works in either the Habilitation or Ancillary sectors. Id-Dar
Tal-Providenza's team of Ability Promoters, Physiotherapists,
Communication Therapists and the Podologist working within the
Habilitation Centre together with the Recreational Activity Group,
strive daily to develop the residents abilities physically, mentally
and socially, using the most up-to-date tried-and-tested techniques,
specialist equipment in the gymnasium, hydrotherapy and a program
of activities which take place both inside and outside the Charity's
confines. The Ancillary sector
embraces all of the services required to enable the smooth running
of Id-Dar Tal-Providenza including; administration, laundry and
kitchen, maintenance, security, reception, stores, seamstresses
& drivers.
We are very much
appreciative of our committed volunteers, who so selflessly give
up some of their spare time to help is to care for our residents.
Every sector of our organization has its complement of volunteer
workers. We at Id-Dar tal-providenza realize they all have daily
commitments to their own families and places of work - to that
end we make every effort to accommodate the hours and days they
choose to work with us.
Occasionally a
factory will give a group of its staff the day off so they can
devote the time to helping out with special projects at Id-Dar
Tal-Providenza.
All Care-workers
attend comprehensive induction and first-aid courses and groups
also attend university courses and, when the opportunity arises,
specialized courses abroad. This is all part of an on-going educational
program designed to develop their skills and keep them appraised
of the latest methods of 'caring' for their charges.
Volunteers are
always welcome. If you would like to help and make a difference
to someone's life why don't you give us a call or pick up a form
from our reception and tell us what you would like to do. |
